Buying a home
Buying a flat or a house here is an easy and fast process. You are allowed to buy a home without any restrictions (there are only restrictions for purchasing agricultural land); there is no need to get permission from local authorities.
On average, the prices of a flat in Lithuanian cities range between 605 Eur/m2 in Šiauliai, 1,008 Eur/m2 in Kaunas, 1,030 Eur/m2 in Klaipėda to 1,453 Eur/m2 in Vilnius (Ober-Haus, 2017 July information). The prices depend on the city and its area, the condition and size of the flat and other factors. Prices in smaller cities normally are considerably, even several times, smaller.
The property can be sold directly by the owner or through a real estate agency representing the owner. All what you need is to sign a sales contract and to make a payment. There are two options for the payment: cash or a mortgage loan granted by a bank. Please note that the sales contract should be notarized, and it is recommended to register ownership at the Centre of Registration.
Important: buying a property does not grant a residency in Lithuania.
