Loss of citizenship

The citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania is lost in the following cases:

  • renouncing the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • being granted a citizenship of a different state except for cases foreseen in the Citizenship Law;
  • on the basis of international treaties of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • if a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania is employed in civil service of another state without possessing a permission from the Republic of Lithuania;
  • being granted the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania after submitting falsified documents or by other fraudulent means;
  • if a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, while also possessing a citizenship of another state, upon turning 21 did not renounce the foreign citizenship(-s) according to parts 6 and 7 of Article 7 of the Citizenship Law.
