Lump-sum child benefit (payable for each new born child)

For each born or adopted child, regardless of the fact that the benefit has already been paid out to the child after he/she is born, a single payment in the amount of 11 base social benefits (506 Euros) is granted. The one-off payment is paid out to one of the parents of the child (or a single parent) (adoptive parents) or a child’s guardian.

To get a lump-sum child benefit, after having registered child’s birth and declared the place of residence, one of the parents has to submit a request for the benefit to a social support department no later than within one year since the child was born. You need to bring Lithuanian birth certificate as well as your passport/ID. The application for the benefit can also be submitted online through the E-Government Gateway if you use electronic banking or have an electronic signature to identify yourself. To be eligible for a benefit, one of the parents and the child must be registered in Lithuania and the data about the birth of the child has to be in the registry of Lithuanian residents.
