Returning the citizenship
Citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania is returned to a person who has lost citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania irrespective of the time period during which he or she possessed it. Unlike the case of restoring citizenship, the case of returning the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania possessed in the past is not related to 15th of June 1940. Citizenship is returned only once, at the request of the person who has lost it. If the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania possessed was granted with an exception, it cannot be returned.

There is an applied fee (41-53 Eur) for considering the application. Each person who has submitted an application shall be informed in person about the decision to grant or not to grant them citizenship.
