On  the website of the Lithuanian Employment Service (LES), you can find information about vacancies and labor market trends. Upon arrival in Lithuania, the applicant can register at the territorial office of the SPL (according to the actual place of residence). The list of required documents can be found on the SZL website .

When registering, the SZL draws up compulsory medical insurance, helps to find a job, organizes training, retraining. The insured person undertakes to periodically (on average once every two weeks) visit the territorial department of the LEP, actively look for work. Specialists of the territorial department of the SZL will also inform about vocational training courses, acquisition and advanced training, conditions and procedures for retraining, as well as demand and demand forecasts for specific specialties.

When registering with the Employment Service, foreign citizens (non-EU citizens) must provide identification documents and a temporary residence permit/residence permit in Lithuania. Foreign citizens coming for seasonal work must provide a valid travel document, a visa (if they are not subject to the visa-free regime) and a work permit in the Republic of Lithuania.

Job seekers can register in databases that are frequently searched by employers:

  • Unified resume database;
  • Talent bank - for highly qualified employees who speak at least one foreign language and have 2 years of professional experience, or final year students;
  • Senior Bank - for the elderly or pensioners who want to get a job.

SZL implements various programs to increase youth employment:

Support for young people 's initiatives . The purpose of this program is to assist in employment or professional development, including industrial training, internships or internships for young people aged 16 to 29, within 4 months after graduation from school or loss of work.

Youth Employment Centers inform and advise young people looking for a job, organize information and training courses, activities for young people, and provide professional information and counseling services to young people choosing a profession. Anyone can participate, registration is not required, services are free.

Your First Job with EURES is a program for job seekers aged 18 to 35 looking for a job in a European Economic Area country other than their country of residence. The aim of the project is to assist young citizens of the EU, Iceland and Norway in finding a job, internship or training. The project also aims to help employers, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), find employees. Program participants may receive personalized job search and employment support services that are combined with financial support, such as interview travel, interview allowance, language course costs, relocation costs, recognition of qualifications, subsistence allowance. for trainees and apprentices, etc.

Other projects of the Lithuanian Employment Service:

Support for the elderly unemployed  includes the opportunity to integrate into the labor market for people over 54 who are registered with the labor exchange. Vocational training, employer-subsidized employment and territorial mobility of such persons are supported.

The Network of European Employment Services (EURES) assists and advises job seekers in Lithuania or other EU countries, EEA countries and Switzerland on current vacancies, assists in the preparation of resumes in accordance with the recommended European form.
